My skull bead Mala is made of 108 wooden beads.

Each bead is carved by some small and unknown hand into a little skull.

Each skull a little different from it's neighbor.

As I breathe and concentrate, my fingers work over the features of each bead, discerning little difference from one to the next, seemingly a loop without beginning or end.

Yet this is not true.

Somewhere in the darkness are two skulls facing away from each other. In either direction, each skull faces the next until they reach the bead which alone faces no neighbor.
