Anthem of the United States Civil Rights Movement, derived from Philadelphia Methodist minister Charles Albert Tindley's 1901 hymn, I'll Over Come Someday. Spread by the oral tradition, it was sung by union members in the 1940s before coming to prominence in the 1960s.
