Real estate agents typically take one of several roles in the real estate market:
- Seller's agent
- Represents the interests of sellers. Wants the price to be high.
- Dual agent
- Represents some buyers and some sellers, although not in the same transaction.
- Buyer's agent
- Represents the interests of buyers. Wants the price to be low.

National Association of Realtors.
