A
Skid Plate is sheet of thick
metal angled from the front
bumper to the lower front axel. Most commonly found on
4x4s but not always so.
The idea is to glance the
truck over whatever low lying solid oblect that might cause serious
damage to the underside of one's
vehicle.
Usually this one piece of metal differentiates between the hardcore fourbyers from the weekend warriors.
