On June 17th, President Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, making Juneteenth an official federal holiday. Today is the first Juneteenth to be recognized as a federal holiday.

Because today is a Saturday this year, most federal employees observed it yesterday, taking the day off. Most Americans don't really know what to do with the holiday, and there was not much in the way of national celebrations; mostly just talking heads and social media commentators saying how great/awful this is.

I celebrated by giving blood, and eating too much Mexican food. I may make it a tradition.
