Bon vivant is most often used to mean a person who enjoys good food and drink, as a synonym of gourmet or epicurean. It can also mean someone who has refined taste. And as Webster states, a literal translation is something like 'he who is living well' (Vivant is the present participle of vivre, to live).

The feminine is bonne vivante.
The plural can be either bons vivants or bon vivants
