I keep a journal regularly, and so the idea of a daylog seems natural to me. I don't see why some people look down on it--in the future, a daylog or a journal will only serve history with creating a more accurate picture of our lives, our culture, our timeperiod.

I don't just use it to accrue XP and levels. I use it as another form of expression. All things interest me, really, and other people's lives interest me as much as the Holy Grail or Tom Stoppard or whatever.
