Pitt County is located in the eastern half of North Carolina. Total population is 133,798, in an area of 651 square miles. The largest city in Pitt county is Greenville (Pop 60,174). Pitt County was formed in 1760, and named after William Pitt. Pitt county is bordered by Beaufort, Craven, Lenoir, Greene, Wilson, Edgecombe and Martin counties.
