A medieval pub.

In Beowulf, Beowulf hears of the best mead hall being being invaded by the monster Grendel, rendering the greatest drinking establishment unusuble. He won't stand for it (those Old English guys loved male bonding), and embarks from his home land to "take care of business". He and Grendel rumble, Beowulf tears Grendel's arm from his shoulder with a sickening snapping of tenden and muscle, and hangs it from the ceiling of the mead hall as a tribute to masochism. From then on there was no trouble from Grendel. (Grendel's Mother was a bit pissed when her son came home without an arm, though.)
