One of the four galactic directions used in the role-playing game Traveller by Game Designer`s Workshop. It describes the direction of the Galactic Spin, i.e. the direction the galaxy is moving to. On MegaTraveller starmaps, Spinward is usually mapped on the lefthand side of the map. Other directions are Coreward, Trailing and Rimward.
Spinward of the Third Imperium lies the Aslan Hierate a large polity populated by a race feline aliens, and the Claw, a large starless area, which forms a natural barrier to expansion. However, the Imperium managed to settle a large area Behind the Claw, which is called the Domain of Deneb. The most spinward sector of this Imperial Domain are the Spinward Marches, which border the Zhodani Consulate and the Vargr Extents to Coreward and the Sword Worlds to Spinward.
Due to the treaties signed with the Zhodani Consulate in the aftermath of the Frontier Wars, the Imperium has agreed to forego any further expansion Spinward.
