New York-Penn League baseball team; Short-Season A affiliate of the New York Mets. Plays at Keyspan Park, a newly-constructed stadium on Coney Island.

The franchise played last year as the Queens Kings, but only because the stadium wasn't ready in Brooklyn yet -- the move was already planned. When the Cyclones played their home opener on Monday, 25 June 2001 against Mahoning Valley, the national media converged on the event, providing lots of free publicity for "baseball's return to Brooklyn," the first professional game in Brooklyn since the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles after the 1958 season. Locals were interviewed raving about their excitement at Brooklyn getting a team back, etc. Fortunately for the rest of the country, everything settled down after a couple of days when the national media realized that this was just another minor league club, and really nothing to get that excited about.

With all that free marketing, it shouldn't have been surprising that the Cyclones' cap quickly became the best-selling 5950 in minor league baseball. The cap logo features an old Dodgers-style B with a smaller sans-serif C interlocked into the B's two holes.
