(pronounced dih-guh) A term in drumspeak mostly commonly used to represent two eighth notes. More generally, it is used to represent two notes played twice as fast as a dup. If only one of the two notes is played, then it is usually said as di- if it occurs on the downbeat and attached to the next note, such as di-dup. If the eighth note is on the upbeat, it is said as da (pronouced duh) or ga, depending on the speaker. Thus, a measure written with an eighth note, three quarter notes, and then another eighth note might be said "Di-dup dup dup ga".
