An 1993 action movie parody, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, directed by John McTiernan.

The plot is simple: An old cinema owner gives a kid a "magic ticket" - who then goes to watch an action movie starring Jack Slater (Arnold S.)... and the ticket then sends the kid "inside" the movie.

What then follows is an excellent comparison of the world of action movies and the "real world"; some more or less accurate "analysis" of action movies in general, much parodying of the action genre, bunch of self-irony and cameos by important people.

The in-movie "trailer" of "Hamlet as an action movie" ("Something is rotten in the state of Denmark, and Hamlet is taking out the trash") was particularly memorable. Arnie also makes fun of his "I'll be back" trademark line.

Not a great movie in general, but it had some fairly clever moments... worth paying the (magic) ticket.

Too bad the DVD isn't too amazing: Featurette, trailer and AC/DC's "Big Gun" music video...
