Unleashed at the Paris Automobile Salon on the 28th September, 2000, the Carrera GT Concept is the first peek at the new Porsche supercar - the Carrera GT. A 5.5L mid-mounted V10 engine transmitting 416kW of power to all four wheels allows the two-seater to reach 60mph in 4 seconds. Exotic alloys keep the weight down while a smooth underfloor and air guidance ducts provide plenty of downforce for much-needed grip and stability at over 200mph. According to Porsche, production of this model will start sometime in 2003 and will total 500 vehicles. The car will compete directly with heavyweight machines from Ferrari and Lamborghini on both performance and price (the rumoured cost is estimated to be around US$315,000). Appears in the Playstation2/PC game Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and also in the Xbox game Project Gotham Racing.
