A very popular rock band that many people unfairly label as being crap simply because of the amount of radio airplay that they get (see selling out). A lot of people seem to think they're Christian, which the band denies in this statement on their official website:

"Are we a Christian band? This is a question we are asked a lot because of some of the references made in the lyrics. No, we are not a Christian band. A Christian band has an agenda to lead others to believe in their specific religious beliefs. We have no agenda! Those references were made at a time in my life when I was questioning how I was raised, and searching for where I stood concerning those issues. This is not to say I have abandoned those beliefs, just searching for where they fit into my life." - Scott Stapp

History

Creed formed in 1994 in Tallahassee, Florida when vocalist Scott Stapp met with former high school buddy Mark Tremonti. Scott Phillips and original bassist Brian Marshall joined soon after. Creed originally had a Christian focus which was derived from Stapp's childhood punishment of writing out Bible verses by his Pentacostal minister father. Creed were signed to Sony after sending them an audition tape and their first album, My Own Prison, was relased less than a year later. The album was very popular and was still charting when Creed released their follow-up album Human Clay. Human Clay was a huge hit, debuting at #1 and selling over 17 million copies. Further critical success followed with the release of their third album, Weathered in 2001 and the #1 hit single My Sacrifice.
