You start the day far and away,
looking for something new.
You're brought back to Earth from the stars
and the moon, looking to the world with new eyes.
No more the child, blithe and blind,
but the grown-up you never thought you'd be.
The clock strikes midnight on your childhood,
a rebirth into maturity.
The security blanket and toys are lost,
replaced with debt and bills.
Stuck, you thought, in a thankless job,
you look for any way out. You yell for
people, a companion, any sort of comfort -
finding none you look to the setting sun.
And this - your life-long struggle - is done.
