Mobitex is a wireless packet-switched data network. (Although some Mobitex network operators alse service voice traffic). Rim/Blackberry pagers and Palm VII wireless devices communicate via Mobitex.

Mobitex networks operate in 3 frequency ranges: 80MHz, 400 MHz, and 900 MHz.
400 MHz = Europe, Australia and Asia
900 MHz = America
80 MHz is being phased out and is only used in a few countries in Scandinavia.

3rd party/customer networks can be connected to a Mobitex network via X.25 (dial-up or leased line) or in some cases IP.

BellSouth Wireless Data / Cingular operates the Mobitex network in the United States.
