Independent film magazine originally created and edited by Chris Gore and published from 1985 to 1997. Spawned the Film Threat Video Guide (1991-1996) edited by David E. Williams which dealt mainly with underground film, specifically in various video formats (as opposed to film). The Film Threat website (www.filmthreat.com) was launched in 1996 and is still in existence today continuing the tradition of the print magazine and edited by Chris Gore. Gore also hosted The New Movie Show on the FX cable network.
Film Threat originally began as a fanzine published by Gore when at college in Detroit. Relocating to Los Angeles in 1989 the magazine began to gain national attention before independent film became popular. In 1991 the magazine ceased to be self-published and was purchased by Larry Flynt Publications with Gore as the editor-in-chief. During this period of time Gore launched numerous other publications under the LFP banner and was eventually promoted to Editorial Director overseeing new titles by LFP. Gore left LFP (date unknown) and purchased back the rights to Film Threat bringing it under the newly created Gore Group Publications.
