A cord or cable used to connect two devices, usually temporarily. Often heard in the context of networking (where the patch cord connects the computer's NIC to the hub or switch, or to the wall jack), or in the context of musical electronics (where it routes an audio or control signal from one module, instrument, or device to another, such as from your Big Muff pedal to your amplifier).
