A monophonic analog preset synthesizer with a 32-note keyboard. Manufactured between 1977 and 1980.

As the name implies, the M500 is not programmable. There are 6 preset sounds: voice, synth1, synth2, brass, string and wood. There is only 1 VCO and a siple DR (decay/release) envelope.

The M500 features user controls over the resonant VCF (as "traveller"), LFO depth and speed, portamento speed and the envelope. No interface whatsoever for communicating with other synths is included. A version with a small built-in speaker was released.

OMD used the M500 for the lead in Enola Gay, as well as several other songs.
