Got a lot of publicity from William S. Burroughs who traveled around South America in search of it, and published the correspondence between him and Allen Ginsberg in this period under the title The Yage Letters. Sounds like kind of a messed-up experience. One of those psychedelic drugs that knocks you flat on your back, blinds you, paralyzes you, makes you see whirling snakes etc. and makes you feel like you're going to die. Not a party drug imo.
