Wow, after reading the little poem above, I got all teary-eyed and was barely able to continue.
Flowers is also the title of a 1967 album by the Rolling Stones. It was basically a greatest-hits compilation which had as its goal making some early singles available in the USA. It featured the then-living Brian Jones as well as Jack Nitzsche on keyboards.
It included such songs as:
- Lady Jane
- Out of Time
- Mother's Little Helper
- Ruby Tuesday
- Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?
- Let's Spend the Night Together
- Backstreet Girl
This was a memorable album for me because it came out in 1967, and it seems (in retrospect) that so much happened in that one year that 1967 should rightfully be called the first year of the new millennium. Backstreet Girl was the first song I learned to play on the guitar (in "G"), and Let's Spend the Night Together is still my favorite all-time song by the Stones.
Big Mouth and his gang would have loved that poem above this writeup of mine, too. I'm surprised they never put it to music.
