If I was beautiful like you
I'd be quick to assume
They'd do anything to please me
A simple reaction, when you walk into the room

Beautiful-Joy Drop

I'm on the outside, I'm looking in
I can see through you, see your true colors
'Cause inside you're ugly (Ugly like me)
I can see through you, see to the real you

The pretty girl wonders what it would be like to become known. Gradually. To be sought out for what she thinks, how she talks and her art. She wonders what it would be liked to be judged for what she can do and how she makes someone feel. But the moths circle her and she can never know what it's like to be discovered.

The plain girl dreams of guys who rush up to hold the door, for men who stop their sentences and their mouths. She imagines shopping for clothes and having everything fit and everything look great on her the first time. She wonders what it would be like to be the center of attention and have her words hung on instead of ignored. But she hugs the wall and watches her glances bounce off their intended targets. She will never know what it's like to be noticed without saying a word.
