Ah yes, the prize to end all prizes for the high school athlete: The Letterman Jacket. Usually comprised of some sort of heavy cloth and/or leather combination, this jacket is the uniform of the jock, and also the wannabe. Anybody at their high school can buy a jacket, but the Varsity Letter must be earned through the hard work and integrity necessary to participate at the Varsity level.
The bearer of the jacket and letter is the king of iron-on transfer, the emperor of felt icons which depict his rank, Varsity, and his specialty, identified by a smaller symbol of a football, soccer ball, or little foot with wings on. His name emblazoned on his chest and proof of his prowess across from it, the Varsity athlete can then proudly venture forth and carry on an exemplary career in fast food distribution.
