The Notes

What we got here is: a D, a G and an A. It's that simple.

What I Reckon

Man, you gotta love Dsus4. As you can see from the above, it's just like a normal D but with a G instead of an F# for one of the notes. Mostly I use it to provide a cheap bit of interest to a bar which is just D major all the way through.

The D and G on the skinny strings are just the same as in an open G major (the way I plays it, anyway). Also, let's not forget the ol' Cadd9, which you can play with those same two notes. So, you can play any of the 14'000 songs that only use G, C and D without moving your ring finger and pinky. Hell, you can even keep 'em there for an Em if you care to.
