A special type of surface piercing that uses a scar or implanted brace to hold a piercing. While a majority of surface piercing migrate out of the body, the idea is that the brace will allow it to stay in, even when placed in a very exposed manner. So far, only a few piercers have experimented with this technique, so the jury's still out on it. If one must have a surface piercing that won't reject, a surface bar is probably a better bet.
