In ad hoc networking research, there is a need to model the motion of mobile nodes (usually representing humans carrying wireless devices). A mobility model is an attempt to simulate this motion. There are two broad categories of mobility models, each with several existing models.

Individual

Group

Each of the above have their own pros and cons. By far the most popular of the individual mobility models is Random Waypoint.
