She had a mini-celebration today
shared with a few close friends at a diner
Margaret was back over 80 pounds,
for the first time in a year
That is still half of where she was three years ago,
but 20 more than where she was two months ago
and no, she doesn't remember much about those months.
Her friends bought her a cupcake and put a single candle on it
a small party as much about hope as it was about joy
They laughed about being unable to light the candle,
all of them had thrown away their lighters a while back,
though their fingertips were still black.
