I've read books so I know things that sound like they could be true (poetry)

I am old enough to know better
too young to know the things I should

I don't believe a word he says,
but I listen closely because I
don't want to miss a word.

I am skeptical, cynical and dubious
My mother didn't raise no fool

I follow him around out of curiosity, mostly
more interested in what I'm going to do
than how the story is going to end
