For every hero there are a thousand ordinary people,
uncounted and unrecognized.

Every year their passings are not publicized
their accomplishments, too small to garner attention.

They are born with little promise
live below expectations
and then have died without notice.

Their lives, diminished and absent passion, are
short, uneventful and
longer than they wished it might have been.
