A reptilian creature with gray-white
fur, a.k.a. "snow lizard." Tauntauns can be tamed and ridden. They are used as mounts and pack animals by the
Rebel Alliance when they venture out from
Echo Base on the frozen planet
Hoth.
Wild tauntauns roam Hoth, where they graze on
lichen. Their thick fur protects tauntauns from
extreme temperatures, but they can't survive Hoth's
brutal nights outside and must seek
shelter.
