One half of the British comedy duo
The Two Ronnies (Corbett is the short one with the glasses). Starred in the various Two Ronnies television series, specials and stage performances for the better part of thirty years until the retirement of
Ronnie Barker in the mid-1980's. In the subsequent years, he has appeared in adverts (for
British Telecom and cigars), movies (
Fierce Creatures), and television shows (
Sorry!,
Small Talk,
The Ben Elton Show).
Famed for his 'chair' monologues, where he tells hoary old jokes and anecdotes about his wife and the producer (no, not like that... clean your mind out). Often considered to be a rather old-fashioned and self-satisfied comic, he nevertheless has an enduring popular appeal, and received a warm reception in a Two Ronnies reunion performance a few years back.
