DJ Magic Mike is Michael Hampton born in Orlando, Florida in 1967. He started his mixing career as a teenager spinning records at a roller rink and selling mix tapes. At 14, he was hosting a drive time radio show in Orlando. After high school, he concentrated on club tunes and debuted on wax with 1987's "Boot the Booty" for Vision Records.

In 1988, a local promotor offered DJ Magic Mike a half of Cheetah Records if Mike's releases sold well. His first releases under Cheetah were "Magic Mike Cutz the Record" and "Drop The Bass". Both of these were regional hits, especially "Drop The Bass". He released an album in 1990 with "Bass is the Name of the Game" and the album went gold dispite low vocal content. Later releases were titled "Ain't Not Doubt About It" and "BASS: The Final Frontier" and "This is how it Should Be Done" and "Magic's Kingdom".

DJ Magic Mike made commercial appearances for Coca-Cola and Pioneer. He has worked with Sir Mix-A-Lot, 2 Live Crew, MC Shy D and Poison Clan. DJ Magic Mike has been remixed by Frankie Bones and Red Void.

Please do not confuse Michael Hampton with the East Indian DJ Magic Mike in north New Jersey.
