Natanleod was a British or Welsh king who ruled a kingdom in the district now named Hampshire on the southern coast of England.
Little is known of him except that in the year 508 the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle recounts that he was slain by the West Saxons Cerdic and Cynric in battle together with five thousand of his men, and that afterwards the land he once ruled was named after him by its
new masters as Netley.
It is manifest that Natanleod was not his true name, but rather that which the Saxons gave him; his true British name most likely Natan or the Biblical Nathan as the British of the time were no strangers to the Christian faith.
