Skydiving into the sun

                                   once and
                    only once

(In tandem, of course)

Think of it as:
                                           a suicide pact for modernists

(I'll pretend I'm the one who's scared)

Imagine a

                                     quickly evaporating bucket of water
a chunk of earth from an empty lot folded into a coffee filter
a trusty parachute handbrake for the sky

And you at my back again, as always

I want to kiss the sweat off your skinny throat
I can't say I'm only smiling because my face is melting away
You're my only reason to believe in the sun anymore
Although it is starting to hurt,
More and more

But closing your eyes,
only makes it worse love
