To see a tiny foal emerging from a blanket of darkness and confusion is to discover the true meaning of fragility and innocence. The way such a creature pulls itself to a standing position is truly amazing, breath-taking even. Surely humans are not so strong-willed as these things, these insanely dreamy leetle animals. The foal, mere hours after birth, stands, takes a few awkward steps, then collapses from utter exhaustion. Yet, after a few short moments of rest, it tries again, this time a little wiser to the presence of gravity. Some human life can take days, years, an eternity, to retry a failed attempt, especially where something so momentous and significant is concerned.

My inspiration, that tiny baby horse, so fragile, so endearing, so infinitely determined.
