Nine years old, I sat with my Father watching Battlestar Galatica. It was one of the later episode, by which time they had moved the setting to Earth for budgetary reasons.

I saw two characters on motorcycle enter from stage right. They doff their helmets, and one of them said
"These are the coordinates."

My father said "Why don't they just say 'We're here?'"

It was then I knew that televison and movie could never show me good science fiction. All good sci-fi stems from books. Larry Niven, Steven Barnes, and Arthur C. Clarke. Yes, they can tell me good stories. Their characters say "We're here."

And here we are. I still watched the rest of the episode.
