The New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM) is one of the main attractions in the small town of Armidale in northern New South Wales, Australia.
Opened in 1983, it houses the Howard Hinton and Chandler Coventry collections, which alone account for over 1,500 of the museum's many paintings. Canvases by Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts, Margaret Preston, John Coburn, George Gittoes and Ann Thomson form the main drawcards for the museum, although naturally, more than just paintwork is on display.
As with many recently built art museums, it is well laid out and comfortable, although the external architecture is pretty love or hate. There is a more than adequate cafe on the premises - which is one of the more trendy places to dine in Armidale - and a very well-stocked gift shop / art book shop.
