Is it possible to compete in sciences? The existence of science olympiads indicates that the answer is yes. "Smarter" has been added to the "faster, higher, stronger" motto of the traditional olympiads.

The exact form of the competitons varies from subject to subject, but they have some things in common. They are held annually and arranged by different hosts every time, and the participating countries send a handfull of secondary school students to represent them. A number of prizes are awarded to the highest scorers, such as the Chinese or Russian participants.
