As mentioned above, Robert Johnson only recorded 29 songs in his brief career. These 29 songs have been covered by everyone from The Rolling Stones to Cream to Led Zepplein to Frank Sinatra and include some of the most famous blues songs ever. When a young Elvis Presley auditioned for Sun Records in 1954, he played a rendition of "Milkcow Blues." None of these songs are known in any form before Robert Johnson recorded them, so he is credited as writer for them all, although Elmore James would later claim he really wrote "Dust My Broom."
