SEPTA Market-Frankford Line (thing)

The SEPTA Market-Frankford Subway line has many names. It is often called the blue line, because it's always drawn in blue on all SEPTA maps. The stations are also done with a blue and while decor, and the signs indicating an entrance to the station are written in blue. It is also known as the "EL" or "Market-Frankford EL", short for "elevated train" because it runs above ground in West Philadelphia.

Stops on the MFL (From West to East)

• 69^th Street Terminal- Transfer to 100 High Speed Line.

  69th street is a semi-safe, semi-enjoyable place to go. It features the The Tower Theatre and a pretty large movie theater (United Artists 69th Street). There are also shops along 69th Street, but I've never been in them. It's a decent place to see a movie or show, just don't go alone at night.

• 56^th Street
• 52^nd Street
• 46^th Street- There's a KFC here. The cashiers are behind really thick glass. That should tell you something.
• 40^th Street

  Walk a couple blocks south of 40th Street station and you'll come upon Tandoor India, a very highly rated and respected Indian food restaurant. Just south of that at 40th & Walnut streets, there's the Fresh Grocer, a 24-hour a day grocery store/restaurant/coffee shop. In addition, there's the new Bridge: cinema de lux right on the other side of Walnut. 40th street serves as the western boundary of University City and of the University of Pennsylvania campus.

• 34^th Street

  Get of here if you're going to Drexel University or the University Science Center.

• 30^th Street- Amtrak/Regional Rail/Trolley

  Across Market Street from the Amtrak station is the main post office of Philadelphia. It's open 24/7 for your convenience. If you're in a rush to get a letter out, drop it off here and save a couple days. 30th Street is the eastern border of University City and of Drexel University's campus.

• 15^th Street- City Hall / Broad Street (Orange)-SEPTA Suburban Station

  The heart of center city. You haven't seen Philadelphia until you've walked through the center of City Hall (it has openings on all four sides and has a center courtyard). Also right outside this station is Centre Square featuring a giant paper clip sculpture, and also a ton of office buildings.

• 13^th Street- Trolley- SEPTA customer service.
• 11^th Street

  Stop for the Philadelphia Convention Center and for The Gallery, a fairly large, four story shopping mall.

• 8^th Street.

  Access to SEPTA Market East Station. Also you can catch a greyhound bus right across Arch street. Walk a few more blocks north, and you'll see Philadelphia's chinatown.

• 5^th Street- Independence Hall
• 2^nd Street.

  Outside this station, you'll find Penn's Landing and Philadelphia's Olde City. There are a ton of bars and other food establishments between 3^rd & Market and Front & Spruce Street. A great place to go for an evening with the lady.

• Spring Garden (500 N.)

  The closest stop to Northern Columbus Boulevard, including Club Egypt and Go Vertical! where you can rock-climb while staying within the Philadelphia city limits.

  Catch a bus here if you're going to Northeast Philly. If you're going anywhere in that area, most likely the bus leaves from Frankford Terminal.
