This is not art
No one knows how the message got there, as it would require abseiling equipment or a very tall ladder to get up as high as it is, and there have not been any reports of such objects in the area.
No one knows exactly what it means, and everyone has a different theory: is it implying the building itself is not aesthetically pleasing? Or the city? Or is it merely self-referential, and, as such, a giant red herring to all who are eager to blame a group of political (and therefore 'crazy' ) university students?
Whatever the case, it is Newcastle's best known, and most interesting, piece of (non-?) art.
