A large demonstration in Washington D.C. on April 16th and 17th 2000. Protestors took the streets to bring attention to the profoundly un-democratic yet, not-surprisingly, American ways of the IMF, the World Bank, and the WTO. While the protestors failed to block the IMF and World Bank delegates from attending the meeting, the issues of globalization were brought sharply into focus of US and world media.

The website for the A16 direct-action (www.a16.org) is now a resource for globalization protests across the world.
