Exclusive Boston neighborhood built on the remains of one of the three hills that originally made up Boston. (see the trimountain). The other two hills were removed for use as fill, and the peak of Beacon Hill was shaved off for the same purposes. Beacon Hill is the location of the Massachusetts State House, and a lot of narrow, one way cobblestone streets with gas streetlights. The homes are narrow brick row houses, most of which date back to the eighteenth century.
