(1857 - 1915) Author of The Boston Cooking School Cook Book (later the Fannny Farmer Cookbook), and director of the Boston Cooking School. Farmer's cookbook went through 21 editions during her lifetime, and has been published continuously since. She's easly one of the bestselling authors of all time. Under her direction, Boston Cooking School became a part of Simmons College.

Farmer's real innovation was the use of precise measurements, allowing anyone to recreate her recipes at home. Farmer published twelve other books in her lifetime, one on the practical aspects of cooking for invalids.
