(1954 - ) American outdoorsman,
essayist and writer. Most of Krakauer's career has been spent at
Outside Magazine. His work has also appeared in
Rolling Stone,
National Geographic, and
Playboy.
Krakauer is best known for his firsthand account of the 1996 disaster on the slopes of Mount Everest which claimed the lives of 9 other people in his climbing party.
