The gas turbine is a rotating internal combustion engine. This engine only has one main moving part, the rotor. The rotor has a series of pinwheel-like blades attached to it. Air coming into the engine will be compressed by the first set of blades, and is then delivered to the combustion chambers. The exhaust from this flows past the remaining blades generating power. These engines are very smooth due to the lack of explosions and reciprocating parts.
