(Spoilers?)

The protagonist of the anime/manga Revolutionary Girl Utena: a tall girl with blue eyes and pink hair.

From the first episode, she is portrayed as a tomboy: she wears the school uniform for boys; she excels at basketball; she wants to become a prince; she refers to herself with "boku". But she has a romantic side as well - in fact, the very reason she becomes involved in the story is that she is still hanging on the the rose signet that the "prince" gave her when she was a child.

Some say Utena is idealistic, but she is also very down-to-earth and direct. When she sees an injustice, she acts. Ikuhara Kunihiko, the director, described her as "naive", but in a positive sense. Compare with Himemiya Anthy, who is many ways Utena's opposite. When Anthy feels that she can no longer keep living her lie she decides to kill herself, but Utena decides to make things right.

In fact, what makes Utena special is that she cannot/refuses to see the evil in the world. And ultimately, she is the one who changes it. We should be like her.
