1942-1969. Guitarist, co-founder/co-leader (with Mick Jagger) of The Rolling Stones. Eased out of power as they began to focus on original songs - thus the Jagger/Richards axis gained ascendancy, along with Andrew Loog Oldham. Jones became just an X-factor, contributing on occasion (e.g. sitar on "Paint it Black") before officially quitting; he died soon after. Frequent target of the drug squad, and maybe the one who turned Ornette Coleman on to the musicians of Jajouka.
