70s record label founded by ex-Buddah Bubblegum King Neil Bogart (hence the name). They had the bipolar financial fortunes of the age. Their roster included Kiss, Donna Summer, and Parliament, and Cher. They briefly could do no wrong. But their excesses, the hypermarketing of Kiss (their four solo LPs flopped), and the tying of their fortunes to disco music (their FilmWorks' Thank God It's Friday flopped; disco suffered a mean backlash), led eventually to a crash.
